Werbung ohne Nachprüfung der Wirksamkeit gibt es kaum noch. Hast du darauf geklickt, hast es eine betimmte Zeit angesehen, Anteil an der Zielgruppe, Intreresse an ähnlichen Inhalten, Plattformnutzung zwecks weiterer Werbeschaltung und wenn es einen selbst interessiert kann man es ja an andere mit 'berechtigtem Interesse' weitergeben.

SeaMonkey 2.53.9 Beta 1 released

Anscheinend wurde ziemlich viel an Chatzilla (IRC Client) gearbeitet .

SeaMonkey 2.53.9 contains (among other changes) the following major changes relative to SeaMonkey 2.53.8.1:

• Uninstall plugin command for ChatZilla bug 541719.
• Update icons used in ChatZilla status bar bug 1710238 and bug 1710249.

• Implement IRCv3 basic CAP negotiation bug 1717539 and CAP LIST and update CAP ACK and CAP LS bug 1710313.
• Use Unicode instead of images for emojis in ChatZilla bug 1711375 and add some extra emojis bug 1711376.
• Use SeaMonkey's configured web search rather than a separate one in ChatZilla bug 1712498.
• Add a networks editor to ChatZilla bug 1716232.
• Implement IRCv3 away-notify bug 1717543, chghost and userhost-in-names bug 1717544, self-messaging bug 1722212 and WHOX bug 1722214.
• Link to SeaMonkey website in debugQA for verification sites and development section bug 1685606.
• Send button should be disable until we have a recipient bug 104973.

Es wird ernst. Es gibt jetzt einen konkreten Zeitplan, wann Google µBlock Origin tötet den Benutzer vor bösen Erweiterungen schützt:

the intention is to discontinue Manifest V2. That will start on January 17th, 2022, when Google is going to stop accepting new extensions based on Manifest V2 in the Chrome Web Store. Existing Manifest V2 extensions can continue to receive updates, but no new extensions can be published using the old manifest. Should you choose to install extensions from outside the Chrome Web Store, those will also work.

One year later, in January 2023, the Manifest V2 extensions will stop running altogether in Chrome, even if you install them from outside the Chrome Web Store. Developers also won’t be able to push updates to Manifest V2 extensions in the Chrome Web Store, forcing everyone to transition to Manifest V3.

Achtung: Wird Firefox manuell per setup.exe geupdatet, wird das Distribution-Verzeichnis inkl. der policies.json gelöscht (dort kann man Einstellungen/Richtlinien speichern, die für alle User gelten)

Störung beim Webbrowser Firefox: Seiten laden nicht, Browser stürzt ab

Im Bugtracker von Mozilla erklärt der Entwickler Gian-Carlo Pascutto, dass man "Googles Cloud Load Balancer (oder einen ähnlichen Service von CloudFlare)" im Verdacht habe. Ein dortiges Update auf HTTP/3 könnte existierende Bugs in der HTTP/3-Implementierung von Firefox auslösen. Das würde erklären, warum der Fehler offenbar nicht durch ein Update von Firefox selbst ausgelöst wurde.

Die genannten Load-Balancing-Services nutzt Mozilla wohl auch selbst, wodurch der Fehler unabhängig von den geöffneten Tabs auftreten kann; etwa wenn Firefox-Installationen Mozillas Server im Hintergrund kontaktieren. Das geschieht beispielsweise im Zuge von Update-Checks oder wenn Telemetrie-Daten übertragen werden.

Wegen Problemen mit einer Webseite wollte ich testen ob's am Useragent liegt.
Und was muß ich dabei feststellen? Firefox hat mittlerweile die Möglichkeiten einen seitenspezifischen Useragent einzustellen entfernt.
(ging über die Preference general.useragent.override.onpsx.de etc.)
In der Vergangenheit hab ich das schon öfters genutzt.
Jetzt kann nur noch der Useragent für alle Seiten geändert werden (general.useragent.override), das will ich aber gerade nicht.

Privacy Badger is one of only a few dozen extensions available to Firefox on Android. A major reason is that Mozilla needs to review each update to each extension for security and privacy, because all extensions run in the Firefox main process (as opposed to a dedicated extensions process on desktop), which goes against the recommended practice of defense-in-depth and running code with least privilege.

We're unable to run existing extensions in a separate extension process because Android can kill app's child processes without warning, since extensions were not written expecting that, and may misbehave if we simply restarted their background page (double-injecting content scripts, data loss, etc).

Wußte ich nicht. Damit sind die Chancen für freie Pluginwahl wohl auch in Zukunft gering .

Mozilla warum benennt ihr das Problem nicht sondern ich muß das zufällig ganz woanders auf GitHub finden .

Kiwi startet Plugins automatisch neu wenn sie von Android gekillt wurden. War anfangs nicht so und man mußte das selber machen.

Mittlerweile hat Google neue v2 Erweiterungen verboten. In einem Jahr werden dann auch die bestehenden verboten.



Bisher waren mir nur die Änderungen bei den WebRequests so richtig bewußt.

Aber es gibt auch noch andere, wesentliche Punkte bei denen Google die Erweiterungen in ihren Möglichkeiten teils dramatisch einschränkt.
Google spielt hier seine Marktmacht aus, und ich vermute hier alles andere als edle Motive um angeblich die Nutzer vor bösen Erweiterungen zu schützen.

Mozilla kommentiert auf Github das alles sehr zögerlich. Statt ein deutliches Statement dagegen zu setzen kommt mehr so ein "Googles Ideen
sind gut, an ein paar Stellen sollten wir noch etwas drehen, und vielleicht wird mit v4 dann alles wieder besser."


Einfach traurig wie sich das Thema entwickelt hat. Von Erweiterungen, die den Browser quasi vollständig kontrollieren und ändern konnten hin zu irgendwelchen Webworkern, die im Hintergrund laufen dürfen und nach 5 min den Saft abgedreht bekommen .

Kann mir mal einer helfen: Auf bestimmten Seiten (bspw. AVS Forum oder n4g) öffnet Chrome von selsbt nach kurzer Zeit immer wieder 10-20 tabs mit der gleichen Webseite (Microsoft Shop).... Jemand ne Ahnung?

Mozilla ist mal wieder am spionieren. Sie verkaufen sich bekanntlich gerne als Hüter der Privatsphäre, lieben aber Tracking.

Der Standarddownload auf der Webseite enthält eine eindeutige ID, die nach der Installation an Mozilla gesendet wird.

Da dort ein dummer Webinstaller angeboten wird hab ich sowieso immer auf ftp.mozilla.org zurückgegriffen.
Die Downloads dort sind nicht infiziert (wäre auch blöd, schließlich werden dafür auf Prüfsummen angeboten).

Ich spiele gerade mit Firefox/Fenix (FDroid):

Die History ist eine Katastrophe. Umfaßt nur wenige Einträge, reicht bei intensiver Nutzung nur wenige Stunden zurück. Nicht durchsuchbar.

Menüs der Erweiterungen hätte ich gerne auf der ersten Ebene wie in Fennec und Kiwi.

Tabreihenfolge ist nicht änderbar. In Fennec ging das.

Performance ist okay, aber schlechter als Kiwi.
Damit meine ich nicht Ladezeiten, sondern vor allem UI und Scrolling.
