https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/https-everywhere/

The XUL "tree" widget will be removed from mozilla-central

XUL <tree> is completely central to Thunderbird's UI. The XUL <tree> was originally implemented specifically for Thunderbird, and with the needs of Thunderbird in mind. The folder pane and the thread pane are XUL <tree>s, and the thread pane is the most prominent UI of Thunderbird.

It is highly complex and needs:
* Fast enough for up to 1 million entries
* tree: hierarchical entries with expander
* table: multiple columns, sortable, configurable
* the combination of tree and table at the same time
Without XUL <tree>, and without a suitable replacement that at the very minimum does all of that, Thunderbird will simply be dead.

@Everybody: To start, it would be good to compile a list of requirements that the new implementation needs. The above list is just the big picture, but there are many small requirements to be worked out.

This will not be trivial, and won't be done in a weekend. I've already looked, and there's nothing out there that even comes close. This is a 6-12 months project with full time staff, given that so much of Thunderbird hangs off it. We need a suitable replacement that meets all requirements of Thunderbird, *before* XUL <tree> is removed. Otherwise the project is dead.

I think Thunderbird will weather the storm. They have some active devs on the list and I am quite sure they will do everything to master this. So far they managed to keep up and TB 60 unlike SeaMonkey 2.57 is just around the corner.

For me this is a hobby but currently hard work. Might be one of the reasons we don't see many new devs. New contributors usually vanish after a few small patches. Personally if we can't keep SeaMonkey up to date I will stop. There is no way I will deal with Firefox browser code or support Mozilla further then. The core code becomes more obscure with every release and don't get me started on Rust (lets call it YAPL or imho the next XUL). Structured code albeit old and in need of an overhaul is replaced with spaghetti code. The ui becomes a joke too (yes I know some like it). You can call it Modern and refreshing any day and I won't care.

wrt palemoon. I am at odds with them here. Tobin and I had our run-ins here but I think he no longer thinks I am the devil
Forking 52 imho was a mistake. Trying to preserve everything is futile e.g. I agree with Mozilla that binary add-ons and plugins should go. Will celebrate the day when Flash dies and it is over.

As usual only my opinion. I am one SeaMonkey dev but not the council or all of the people active in the project. And it is not the end yet and also open source which can always be revived.

So if someone wants to help feel free. Not everything needs a 2000 lines patch with in depth knowledge. A tweak here and a tweak there make a better program in the end.

Vivaldi 2.0

Vivaldi Sync

You can now access your data across computers seamlessly and securely using your Vivaldi account. You can choose which data to sync, including your Bookmarks and Speed Dials, saved passwords and autofill information, History (with only typed Urls), extensions and, uniquely, Notes.

We’ve always taken data security extremely seriously. And we’ve long believed that everything you store in your browser belongs to you — which is why we’ll never sell your data, or willingly compromise your privacy. All synced data, including your passwords, is protected using end-to-end encryption and never shared in the clear with Vivaldi. We’ve worked extensively on the code from scratch and do not use any third-party servers.

Du meinst vermutlich about:config, nicht CMD.

With such a limited declarativeNetRequest API and the deprecation of blocking ability of the webRequest API, I am skeptical "user agent" will still be a proper category to classify Chromium.
!
