Sachen gibt es - die will man kaum glauben! Da werkeln die Amazon Studios Seattle im Auftrag des Mutterkonzerns an einem Episodenspiel zur TV Show The Grand Tour, welche exklusiv auf Amazon läuft. Das Spiel - was auch immer es dann ist - soll parallel zur Season 3 im Dezember starten und wöchentlich neue Inhalte bieten. Inwieweit das was kostet, ist bislang noch ungeklärt.

The Grand Tour Game, made by Amazon Game Studios in Seattle, will be episodic and receive new episodes weekly during Season 3 of the Prime TV show. It's not clear how much content an episode constitutes, nor whether they'll cost anything. Season 3 of the TV show has no release date, incidentally, but is expected around December.

The Grand Tour Game lets you follow in the footsteps and tire tracks of Grand Tour hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond (I can't wait to see what they look like in-game). There's four-player split-screen and there are side-splittingly funny power-ups like High Tea and More Horsepowers.

I played it at LAAS last week and it felt like a Wii game. It felt awful, I’m not looking forward to it unless it undergoes major changes late in development.

Hopping on Amazon today, both PS4 and Xbox One digital versions of The Grand Tour are now $14.99. In other words, that’s half the original list price from the initial announcement last year. Amazon is currently not planning for any physical disc-based version.

Amazon Celebrates Grand Tour Game's Release... By Issuing YouTube Takedowns

I tried to upload three times, each time reducing the amount of content from the TV series shown, however the third one contained only gameplay and still got an immediate strike!

I had to resort to removing all gameplay footage and replacing it with a picture of my cat just to get the audio up.

My third video did eventually get released after I put in a challenge on the grounds of fair use (as it was an early review) and that did finally get OK'd and released.

nun ja jetzt kam die zweite folge der dritten staffel raus und mann - da fahr ich fast alles beim anfang nun auf gold. die herausforderungen werden aber auch immer simpler (zb. viechzeug fotografieren).

Neues Review: The Grand Tour Game

Was würde zu einer Streaming-Serie über Autos besser passen, als ein Videospiel? Anstatt passiv zuzuschauen, könnte man aktiv eingreifen und an Rennen und Herausforderungen teilnehmen. Was sich im Konzept gut anhört, muss aber nicht immer funktionieren. Bester Beweis, das Spiel The Grand Tour Game, dass keinen Stich gegen die Qualität der Amazon Prime Serie sieht und im Vergleich zu traditionellen Videospielen ebenfalls nur als "Gurke" bezeichnet werden kann. Mehr dazu im Test.

Echt schade, war aber abzusehen. War wahrscheinlich nur schnell zusammengeschustert. Dabei hätte man mit etwas Elan auch was draus machen können. Spontan würde mir sowas wie Mudrunner einfallen, wo man aber eher in einer Welt zusammenarbeiten muss, um sich dann durch Kolumbien zu kämpfen oder so. Muss ja nicht auf einzelnen Folgen basieren, sondern nur die Charaktere usw. nutzen, um was eigenes draus zu machen. Aber nunja...

Das Spiel wurde ein gutes Jahr nach Release aus den Stores entfernt und Zusatzinhalte unbrauchbar gemacht.

In June 2020, the game was delisted from the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store and Amazon. The reason stated by Amazon was so the developers could 'focus our efforts and resources on other projects.' It was also announced that all bonus content such as the Pre-order & Twitch Prime vehicles would expire on 31 July 2020.
